The Dangers of the Sun to the Lips!

Approximately 90% of skin cancer cases are sun exposure related. While we take measures to protect our bodies and face, one are often missed are the lips.The time of the year doesn’t matter! The danger presented by the sun isn’t seasonal. The sun’s rays are divided into two types; UVA and UVB. The UVB rays decline in cooler months, but that’s not the case for the UVA rays.
The skin of the lips burns faster than the surrounding areas. This is because the skin of the lip very thin. The lips also have very little melanin. This combination of factors allows them to burn much faster than other areas of the face. People with cold sores have to be especially careful about sun exposure.
